angels in disguise

Every morning (as you probably already know),
I dread the moment when the alarm jolts me awake
as it marks the start of the
brush teeth-wash face-dress up-make up-wear heels-take train
routine.

As I carry my sullen face to work, I meet 3 Angels in Disguise.

The cleaner of my block,
a middle age foreign worker from India/Bangladesh,
loudly greets me 'GOOD MORNING'
with a wave of his hand and a friendly smile.

The security guard of my office building,
a middle age Malay guy,
enthusiastically holds the lift door open for me,
and wishes me 'GOOD MORNING. HAVE A NICE DAY AT WORK! CHEERS!'
flashing his trademark Victory 'V' sign.

The restroom cleaner of my office,
a young lady from China,
flashes a really lovely smile,
and says ‘小姐早安!'

And in all three instances, I cannot help but change my frown to a smile.

Then I wonder why they are so happy.

Maybe whatever life's circumstances, only I can make myself happy.

the tree bark

My life is about as exciting as a tree bark.

ok.
I am just being dumb.
Sorry for wasting 5 seconds of your time.

a saturday morning

A few weeks ago I stupidly changed my NTU webmail password and tried to log in yesterday night only to realize I have not got the faintest idea what my new password is.
(A simple case of memory failure which happens more than frequent recently.)

I called the IT Helpdesk this morning and asked the guy on the other end of the line what I could do.
He told me to email my login ID and scanned copy of my IC to him.
Expecting cumbersome beaureacratic days-long delay, I asked how long it will take.
He immedately replied "As soon as I receive it."
And in my mind I was telling myself " Yeah right. After passing it around the globe from counterparty 1 to counterparty 58 and back."
But still I dutifully did all the required and emailed him.
Barely 5 minutes later I got an email informing me that my password has been reset.

HAPPY!

So goes my very happening Saturday morning.

Longing to be on the plane for a good holiday...
