a book - part 2 - THE END

well actually the title should be many books. Been reading quite a bit recently and I am happy that they were all very worthy to be recommended. I love the feeling when you know you have with you a really good book and it provides a respite from the regularities of your life to delve into another world - a world where you don't have to play a part, where you are merely an onlooker.

1. The Shadow of the Wind (Carlos Ruiz Zafón)
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS BOOK! Put simply, it is a book about a book. Muddled? I am not sure how to classify this book because it is a book of mystery, of love, of friendship, of history, of magic, of fate, of simply everything. I am amazed by how well the writer ties so many seemingly fragmented pieces of episodes together yet makes it so easy for the reader to understand and follow. Very original, attention-grabbing and well-written.

2. Shopaholic Takes Manhattan (Sophie Kinsella)
This is the first and only book in the shopaholic series which I have read (as yet), but not the first book of Kinsella for me. I read 'The Undomestic Goddess' last year and had quite a good impression. Kinsella's style is easily digestable - very entertaining. Light-hearted and flavoured with a generous dose of humour. The only downside is that the plot is slightly predictable and tends to cater to the girlish audience. haha. But who can resist a fairytale perfect ending? Not me! Definitely THE book to grab when you are looking for something to keep you occupied on long train/bus rides or a light read before you sleep.

3. A Place Called Here (Cecelia Ahern)
Another good book as well. My second book of Ahern after her much-loved 'PS I love You'. The book is about.. hmmmm... about being lost. I like the storyline for its novelty, which evolves in a way that is totally unexpected. And it closes wonderfully with a sort-of-perfect ending. I like this much better than 'PS I love You' and decided to give 'PS I Love You' another try coz I sort of got lost in the windy plot. A small warning for you if you want to give her books a try coz they do get a little draggy and, like Kinsella, favours the pretty-&-smart a.k.a. female species more. Haha. And the book cover is so attractive it makes me happy just to admire it.

Sadly, for me but I am not sure if it is for you, I think I gonna stop my book recommendation thingy. I realize I sound like some boring, underpaid book reviewer, which was not my intention.
