beyond the opera house (part ii): kiama
i got to stop what i started.
part 2 will be the last part of my oz trip.
next time i know better than to be so ambitious to blog about trips.
oh well, we learn something new everyday, don't we?
***********************
Kiama (say kai-"A"-ma) was my favorite destination in the trip and the weather was insanely good when we were there!
the decision to go to this little unheard of town was quite random.
i chanced upon the Kiama Tourism webpage and ordered their brochure.
i chanced upon the Kiama Tourism webpage and ordered their brochure.
then i got blown away by the photos and decided i MUST make a trip there.
so we arrived, after a 2.5 hours train ride, with not a clue of how to get to the places featured on the brochure.
but it is ok. blue sky, gentle winds, glittering water... we will figure out somehow.
And to cut a long story short, fortunately and unfortunately:
- we were told there is no public transport in the town.
- We can only drive and the closest car rental shop is not really close (not that i have intentions of putting my driving skills to the test there. i may be ambitious but i am not suicidal).
- walking is possible, given the good weather. just that it takes much longer.
- we resigned to our fate of an afternoon of walking.
- we met this guy who volunteered to take us around the sights
- we took up the kind offer, at the risk of losing our kidneys or lives.
Kiama landmarks
Kiama Blowhole
We were told the blowhole was unusually active that day. Hooray!
i could stand there all day looking at it.
Saddleback Mountain
The view was breath-taking - literally.
my eyes were so busy taking in the view i forgot to breathe.
